Northpointe Bank is seeking a detail oriented, customer service minded individual to join our Loan Servicing Team as an Investor Accounting and Reporting Specialist in the Grand Rapids Office. This position requires an individual who has the desire to make a difference within the organization. The Investor Accounting and Reporting Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to: focus on working with other team members to ensure that loans are being booked and serviced within corporate, investor, and regulatory agency guidelines. Agency reporting experience along with audit/regulatory/and compliance experience is preferred. Previous Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac loan servicing experience preferred.. Exceptional customer service skills are essential along with knowledge of mortgage investor reporting, remittance, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and understand basic loan products, i.e. ARMS, fixed rate, balloons, land contract, commercial, and call options.
  • General ledger and DDA research, reconciliations and corrections.
  • Audit daily transaction files for accuracy before posting
  • Audit servicing imports with expected closed loans from the origination system
  • Accurately perform master file data changes meeting critical department deadlines.
  • Update system notes for account charges, requests, and issues.
  • Document, save, and scan necessary items as needed
  • Timely and accurately process mortgage payments, adjustments, reversals, and changes.
  • Process checks, wires, loan funds, reversals and blocks timely and accurately.
  • Understand loan transaction history inquiry, including escrow disbursements.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and disputes regarding payment postings and general customer concerns in person, on the telephone, and in writing
  • Work with outside vendors and correspondents for accurate and timely transfer servicing.
  • Request payment of taxes and insurance if needed from the escrow department
  • Issuance of Transfer of Servicing Letters, Mortgagee Clause changes, Tax Authority Change Letters, etc. within regulatory time frames.
  • Remit, report, and balance for different investors (Freddie/Fannie/FHLBI/etc.)
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve to ensure customer satisfaction with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and understand closing documents to assist customers with inquiries.
  • Assist with audit preparation, investigation, and coordination, both internal and external.
  • Meet established standards and guidelines with regard to compliance, job knowledge, quality, attendance, efficiency, initiative, customer service, and overall performance.
  • Maintain customer confidence by providing ongoing quality service and keeping all files and information confidential.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with strong math skills.
  • Knowledge of various mortgage documents and processes
  • Professional demeanor and interaction with all customers.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and multi-task while handling a high volume of work with multiple interruptions and limited mistakes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, interpretive, and decision-making skills to identify, evaluate and resolved issues/cases.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, any other mortgage/banking software, etc.). Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Access including database building and retrieval of data.
  • Professional demeanor, effective interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse range of individuals/customers.
