We are seeking an Intelligent Combat Platforms (ICP) Assistant Program Manager (APM) to help us establish national leadership in artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, platforms and weapons systems development and related science and technology (S&T) research. The ICP APM will assist in managing the planning, execution, and sponsor interaction, and establish the strategic vision to identify and mature disruptive capabilities to revolutionize air combat. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, developers, and analysts working on ground-breaking solutions for complex challenges. As a member of our team, you will be a key component of the Air Dominance Program Area and play an active role keeping executive leaders informed of portfolio progress and status.

As the Intelligent Combat Platforms Assistant Program Manager (ICP APM)...
  • Your primary responsibility will be to manage the execution of our ICP vision and position the program to provide critical contributions across the ICP domain;
  • You will actively manage projects, execute project funding, and process associated Task Assignments (TA), proposals, and supporting documentation in accordance with APL policies and government contracting regulations;
  • You will develop and sustain APL relationships with DoD sponsors and relevant stakeholders;
  • You will grow a portfolio of critical tasks that includes analytical studies, autonomy development, operations analysis, AI research, test and evaluation, and systems engineering projects consistent with the Precision Strike Mission Area's vision and strategy;
  • You will provide and conduct thought leadership activities to ensure a complete understanding of sponsors’ critical needs and current and future challenges, shape analytic work, and make technical contributions where appropriate and as a logical extension of APL’s strengths;
  • You will ensure that deliverables meet sponsor expectations and project execution is within schedule and budget constraints;
  • You will leverage and coordinate across APL sectors, applying innovation for the range of technology development associated with ICP activities;
  • You will strengthen the APL role as trusted agent in Service unique and Joint programs;
  • You will apply your technical skills to contribute to the success of projects working under the direction of the project or technical lead;
  • You will maintain and continue to mature your technical acumen in AI/ML, autonomy, unmanned systems, tactical aircraft and weapons, and related technologies;
  • You will provide direction that establishes program priorities and cultivates team building within APL, with the program sponsors, and with sponsor supporting organizations;
  • You will nurture a trusted relationship within the APL mission areas and inter-sector community (e.g. other program managers, technical leaders, group supervisors, and support staff);
  • You will mentor key project leaders for career growth in project and program management;
  • You will oversee and coordinate with line management to select, train, and mentor project and technical leads; and

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline such as engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, operations research;
  • Have relevant experience working in autonomy development, unmanned systems, tactical aircraft and weapons, and related technologies;
  • Have demonstrated experience effectively managing projects and delivering contractual deliverables that are high-quality, on-time, and on-budget.
  • Are skilled in forming strong, trusted relationships with sponsors and interact effectively with high level DoD military and civilian leaders;
  • Have excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills;
    Have the ability to travel frequently to Eglin AFB, NAS Pax River, Washington DC, and/or other sponsor organizations and work in closed areas as needed;
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline and/or Technical Management (or equivalent)
  • Have experience leading projects in support of the S&T community such as DARPA, OSD, AFRL, ONR, and ARL
  • Have experience leading projects that included implementing AI algorithms in physical systems
  • Are knowledge of the air domain to include platforms, weapons, and near peer threat systems
  • Are knowledge of and relationships with the Navy, Army, and Air Force platforms, weapons, unmanned systems, and AI/ML community
  • Are knowledge of APL programmatic, fiscal, and technical environment;
