Job Summary:


As an Enterprise Innovation Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading, planning, executing, and monitoring the success of multiple programs within Enterprise Innovation organization. The position will be responsible for driving and executing the end-to-end incubation process partnering with both internal and external teams. These activities may include ideas from any of the five business units in support of NRG’s enterprise innovation activities. You will work closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams and business units to ensure that program goals, timelines, and budgets are met, while mitigating risks and resolving issues as they arise. Your exceptional project management, leadership, communication, presentation and analytical skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset will enable you to effectively manage the innovation portfolio and deliver results.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Be an ambassador of innovation, best practices and methodologies enterprise-wide
  • Develop and implement program strategies, objectives, project plans and KPIs in alignment with the goals of the overall strategic objectives;
  • Oversee and coordinate multiple program and project teams to ensure successful completion of projects on time and within budget;
  • Provide program governance, regularly monitor project progress, identify risks, and take corrective action as needed;
  • Communicate program status, updates, spend and challenges to stakeholders and senior management;
  • Develop and manage budgets, resources and timelines to ensure successful delivery of the overall program and projects;
  • Manage vendor communications with external venture builders including the procurement and project onboarding processes;
  • Analyze data and make informed decisions for the overall program;
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional and cross business unit teams;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, set expectations, and define project scope;
  • Skillfully execute projects using a prescriptive approach, while also demonstrating the ability to critically assess and choose the most suitable methodology that best aligns with each project's specific goals and objectives;
  • Work in tandem with core business unit innovation teams to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment between enterprise innovation, core innovation and corporate strategy, optimizing results, maximizing efficiency and sharing of learnings throughout the incubation processes;
  • Implement best practices in program management and continuous improvement initiatives; and
  • Evaluate program outcomes and provide insights for future improvements.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of program or project management experience with a solid understanding of PM methodologies, tools, and best practices relative to enterprise software and/or hardware products / services;
  • You have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and effectively influence cross functional teams, across multiple organizations, at various levels;
  • Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs and projects from inception to completion;
  • Excellent creative, problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • An understanding of SCRUM and Agile methodologies (or similar experience);


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Service and/or Smart Home Technologies Industry experience is preferred (energy, mortgage, insurance, credit card, internet, telephone, security, and/or delivery services);
  • You have a history of establishing new relationships and developing joint solutions within an enterprise business;
  • Transformation change management expertise;
  • Leading proof-of-concept solutions with a focus on client validation to ensure the proposed solutions meet customer requirements;
  • Experience creating methodologies and improvement processes;
  • Solid understanding of business case development, tools, and best practices;
  • Knowledge of new product introduction and commercialization


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous product management experience.
  • Stage-Gate, Lean Startup, and Design Thinking product development processes.
  • Problem definition and solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work in an environment of uncertainty.
  • A passion for new ideas, innovation, entrepreneurship.
