Benefits to you
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.   • The annual salary for this position is $88,300 – $136,982. The salary range, identified in the job announcement, is for a new hire who is not yet a member of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). After becoming a member of PERS (usually after six-full calendar months of employment), the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay, and your salary will be increased by 6.95% to help offset that and other cost increases (such as Medicare, Social Security, state taxes, and federal taxes). For new hires who are already active PERS members, the 6% salary deduction and 6.95% salary increase will be effective immediately upon hire.
  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!

Position Highlights
The
Marion County Circuit Court
in Salem, Oregon, is hiring an Information Technology Specialist to join our team in the IT section.
In this role, you will provide Tier 1 and 2 customer service by analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving technically complex problems. You will provide training and hardware, software, and system support.
Customer service is a critical component of this position, as you will have daily contact with employees, contractors, agency partners, and the public. You may participate in enterprise-wide workgroups and advisory committees, develop and present training programs to information systems users, and serve as a project leader for various information systems support projects. You will also liaise with OJD’s Enterprise Technology Services Division and assist agencies that need to access automated court information.
Essential duties
  • Perform local quality control of specialized and complex systems
  • Manage and test application and firmware updates and patches
  • Develop and maintain firmware and software patches and updates for all end-user systems using specialized software
  • Develop personal computer-based applications using end-user type development tools
  • Set up production processes in accordance with established guidelines
  • Participate in the administration of VoIP systems
  • Manage and support AV systems in courtrooms and conference rooms
  • Plan, install, and configure workstations and printers
  • Test new hardware for integrity and usability and resolve compatibility issues
  • Develop new methodologies for deploying hardware and software solutions
  • Develop comprehensive use instructions, controls, and documentation of software versions, as well as comprehensive local operational procedures
  • Design and introduce new technologies and methodologies for end users

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management, public administration, or a related field
AND
Four (4) years of technical experience in the duties and infrastructure support required for the position

Any combination of
education and experience
equivalent to eight (8) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience with a variety of computer applications and processes (e.g., Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, SharePoint, and Teams).
  • Skill in PC support and maintenance.
  • Experience with audio visual and room conferencing systems.
  • Experience providing IT support services to a variety of skill levels for end-users across multiple locations.
  • Skill in providing strong customer service in person, over the phone, through email, and over chat.
  • Experience communicating and presenting information clearly and logically, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and use complex technical documentation.
  • Ability to recognize the impact of technology changes on court users and business processes and to communicate those changes in advance.
Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is FLSA exempt and is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Occasional after-hours work may be required.
  • This position works in an office environment/computer room and may occasionally access ceilings and crawl spaces.
  • Frequent email, phone, and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent email, chat, in-person, and phone contact with people who are confused or frustrated.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, mobile device, scanner, printer, and AV mixer.
