About the Networking Team

This team is responsible for networking in all capacities: switches, routers, firewalls and many network optimization and services devices, telecom circuits, internet access, store SD-WAN, data centers, distribution centers and colocations for all global locations. This team designs, configures, manages, and maintains this equipment, the vendor relationships, and multiple providers we use to deliver the resilient and critical network infrastructure that helps us succeed.

The Networking team is a critical part of the Technology Solutions organization that in addition to the above, also provides: compute, storage, end user computing, desktop support and service desk support for all Williams-Sonoma corporate sites, retail stores, and distribution centers, globally. Our mission is to ensure that every WSI location, associate and customer has the best experience possible utilizing the vast array of technical solutions we provide.

Overview of the Senior Manager, Technology - Networking role

You have a passion for people and invest in their success and will attract, develop, and retain the industry’s best networking talent while possessing the technical chops and experience to effectively influence/participate in engineering discussions, strategic planning, roadmaps, and final decisions to ensure we design, build, and operate a robust, scalable, and secure network at every location.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver a robust, scalable, supportable enterprise and data center network that is critical to our company’s success through ensuring the operational health of the network services provided are available 24x7x365
  • Drive financial budgets by ensuring our telecom bills are accurate, circuits are managed for both delivery and disconnects and hardware inventory kept for all sites, equipment, and services with appropriate support contracts, among other budgeting decisions
  • Work closely with our business partners to ensure the stores, distribution centers and supply chain specific needs are exceeded
  • Lead Capacity Planning and Performance Tuning efforts for Corporate, Stores, Ecommerce and Distribution Center locations across all domestic and international locations
  • Ensure Operational excellence in change management, inventory management and all operational practices follow standards and best practices

  • Lead network redesign projects to successful implementation and celebrate the wins
  • Drive an outcome/impact-based culture and implement methodologies to get us there
  • Measure what matters through KPIs and drive continual process improvements in workgroup maturity
  • Bring a passion for automation and data-driven analytical approaches to solving problems while flexing to emerging needs and changes as they arise
  • Ability to perform work onsite in a corporate office in a hybrid manner. Rocklin CA is our preferred location, but we are open to San Francisco CA, Dallas TX and Brooklyn NY.

Criteria

  • Minimum 10+ years combined experience in hands-on network engineering and managing highly technical teams
  • Experience in a large scale, dynamic enterprise environments with production/revenue-based networking that is critically relied upon for the success of the business
  • Capability to roll up sleeves and dig into the work of your team
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and abstract conceptualization skills
  • Highly motivated, strong sense of urgency and track record of getting results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • CS/EE/CE Degree preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead technical professionals
  • Excellent leadership and partnering capabilities

The expected starting pay range for this position is $165,000-$195,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
