Infection Control/Staff Education Nurse, RN

Elm Manor Nursing is actively seeking an experienced Infection Control/Staff Education Nurse, RN for our Skilled Nursing Facility located in Canandaigua, NY.

Job Type:

• Responsible for the provision of high-quality patient care by promoting and implementing infection prevention and control practices and compliance with regulatory agency requirements

• Evaluates health exposures/issues and assists with the determination of proper care and planning related to infection prevention and control; participates in the identification, prevention, and control of infections by data collection, surveillance and analysis, development of verbal and written reports, educational programs for personnel and patients as needed

• Serves as a liaison with the Department of Health and reports communicable diseases as required

• Conducts research on infection control issues to ensure current policies, procedures, and protocol

• Assists client departments in preparations for accreditation and licensure surveys, as well as other Regulatory Standard reviews

• Provides orientation and on-going training to staff on topics including but not limited to Infection Prevention & control, Point of Care testing, Nursing Policies & Procedures, BLS certification, safety, and compliance

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle objects; controls, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear; taste or smell

• The employee must occasionally lift to 15 pounds

REQUIREMENTS:

• Current New York RN license required
• 2-3 years LTC experience preferred
• Management experience preferred
• Excellent Communication Skills required
• Evidence of basic leadership skills and supervision

• Graduation from a State approved School of Nursing (RN) with or permit or license to practice with 1-3 years of clinical or physician’s office experience

• Education Level Technical Certification

• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
