The Sales Associate will function as a Hybrid Wholesaler, responsible for working directly with financial advisors to build mutual fund sales momentum and deliver superior client service support within a specified territory. The Sales Associate will also spend a significant amount of time making proactive sales presentations to financial advisers over the phone and in person. Other responsibilities include supporting our sales and marketing efforts. This position generally communicates with clients via phone, email, web conferencing etc., with some time spent out of the office meeting face to face with prospects and clients.
The Sales Associate initiates and / or follows up on sales calls, educates prospective clients on BBH products, provides answers to BBH product questions. They may be asked to provide performance data, identify new sales opportunities, and help with the launch of new products and/or new marketing campaigns. The Sales Associate may also provide support to other members of the Business Development team and is expected to maintain a good working knowledge of their assigned territories, investment products and marketing campaigns, while also proactively soliciting new business where possible. The Sales Associate is responsible for answering the BBH intermediary 800 line, monitoring the inbox for emails, and creating and maintaining distribution lists of clients and prospects.
Business Development
  • Prospect and drive sales at smaller broker/dealers
  • Identify and target larger distribution opportunities.
  • Handle inbound phone inquiries from Registered investment advisors, family offices, broker/dealers, and other intermediaries from across the country.
  • Respond to emails regarding BBH products.
  • Provide marketing or other client materials as requested by the senior sales staff.
  • Work with other member of the business development team and seek knowledge for local market.
  • Maintaining a high level of product knowledge to help empower financial advisors and clients so they may execute their best investment option
  • Identify, qualify, and conduct proactive calls daily. Including thank you calls, sales campaigns, follow-up calls & others
  • Utilize CRM system to successfully execute a business plan to foster new relationships while providing world class customer service to drive sales within assigned territory
  • Conduct meetings including webinar, group, seminar, one on one & conferences
  • Attend industry conferences and coordinate group or one on one meetings
  • Travel monthly to see prospects and or clients
Sales Support
  • Assist in the development of sales and
    marketing
    strategies
  • Serve as a liaison to
    brokers
    who sell the distributor’s funds and fund investors
  • Respond to telephone inquiries on portfolio
    management
    and fund performance
  • Identify client needs and coordinate efforts to meet those needs
  • Manage request for meeting materials for business development team members
  • Create, maintain, and utilize distribution lists for the entire business development team
Risk Management & Administration
  • Exercise sound, professional investment judgment on behalf of clients, while avoiding risks to the firm.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements of the business.
  • Complete documentation and written records of meetings and discussions.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of sales or relationship management experience, preferably in a sales support function at an asset manager
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Strong knowledge of equity and fixed income investments
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to deliver persuasive, concise, and well-organized presentations and messages
  • Ability to create, build and maintain relationships with Financial Advisors in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism
  • Excellent listening skills as well as the ability to identify opportunities and suggest creative solutions
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in an independent, challenging, and collaborative sales environment
  • Possess understanding of investment fundamentals (capital markets, modern portfolio theory and asset management performance analysis)

Total Rewards:
BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $150,000, which is specific to New York, NY and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
