HVAC Supervisor
Department: Community Reintegration Center
Full-time, Hourly
Hourly Pay Rate: $52.96/hr

Job Summary: Directly supervise and support the HVAC team, manage and assign work schedules, work assignments, and manage the accountability of the HVAC team’s day-to-day operations. Manage the maintenance of all department HVAC assets and control systems. As required, directly support and perform Journeyman level HVAC work.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Review - Prepare estimates and material lists. Interpret blueprints, sketches and specifications. Create scopes-of-work, monitor and advise on contractor work.
  • Preventative and Routine Maintenance - Chiller start up and maintenance, chilled water, and cooling tower maintenance. Start up and maintenance of existing boilers, controls, and steam supply/condensate return. Perform daily adjustments on building controls. Monitor and make repairs on HVAC equipment such as compressors and thermostats.
  • Emergency work such as no heat/no cooling, steam leaks, and equipment breakdowns.
  • Project Work - Adjustments, construction and capital project participation.
  • Administrative - Participate in and recommend hiring of HVAC staff. Provide daily supervision including job assignments, performance appraisals, workforce development, and establishing priorities to ensure the success of the HVAC section and the department's strategies.
  • Budget Management - Prepare and monitor annual HVAC budget to ensure responsible fiscal management.
  • Special Assignments and Projects - Participate on special project teams, community outreach efforts, marketing and communication efforts.
  • Ability to properly and safely operate: large motors, chillers, boilers, fans, computers and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to Lift/Carry 50 lbs. and Push/Pull 100 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin upon application
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout employment
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Three (3) years or more of work experience as Journeyman Steamfitter required
  • Able to work irregular hours/shifts, weekend, on-call and overtime hours as needed
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a Foreman, Lead, Supervisor or Management role preferred
Additional Responsibilities:
The HVAC Supervisor should be organized with excellent people leader skills, excellent problem-solving skills and should be well versed in all aspects of the HVAC trades to include steam distribution systems and control, fresh/return/heating/cooling air systems and control, boilers, chillers and chilled water distribution systems, cooling towers and associated pumps, piping systems, and mechanical refrigeration systems and control. Machining and working with hands, but increasingly more instrumentation work.
