The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (“NHMLAC”) was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 108 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHM at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. The NHMLAC is seeking a Coordinator, Human Resources for our Human Resources department. The Coordinator, Human Resources works closely with the Human Resources Generalist to provide administrative support to the human resources function and coordination of multiple efforts for the department with outside stakeholders at the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Manages DocuSign for personnel changes within the museum, such as the Open Position Requisition, Hiring Authorizations, Status Changes, and Separation Notices.
  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Generalist, oversee the onboarding process for new hires including orientation, background checks, offer letters, new hire orientation, etc.
  • Serves as liaison between Human Resources and the various departments to maintain the USC work-study program. Attends student job fairs to recruit annually. Coordinates annual supervisor training. Works with departments to place students and maintains open communication throughout the assignment.
  • Collaborates with the Safety and Risk Director to assist in COVID-19 investigation calls and safety inspections
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources Generalist in overseeing the recruitment process including coordinating with hiring managers, reviewing applications, interviewing, processing new hires, routing background checks, etc.
This position has the following requirements:
  • Two or more years’ experience in a human resources function including program facilitation, phones, data management, and customer service.
  • Proficient in using computers and with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic internet, email and calendaring system.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and scheduling conflicts, interpret instructions and analyze data.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, vendors and the general public.
  • Must be extremely organized and able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. Must be able to work efficiently and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Responsible for managing logistics and communications, interfacing and coordinating with all staff and contractors.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work as a team to support department-wide, and institution-wide integration of programming and museum mission and goal compliance.
  • Skilled at documentation maintenance for project schedules, content, workshops and budgets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication. Contributes positively to the department in all aspects.
  • May be required to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Experience with HRIS such as ADP WorkForce Now or Paycor is a plus.
