Human Resources Generalist

The HR Generalist is a hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our organization with a primary focus on benefits administration. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing excellent internal client support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

Position can work in our Springfield, IL, Peoria, IL or St. Louis, MO office.

To be successful in this role, the HR generalist will:

  • Manage benefits administration this includes but is not limited to, benefits enrollment, termination of benefits, and benefit audits
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Manage monthly benefit billing cycle
  • Manage annual enrollment cycle by preparing and disseminating information to employees, facilitating benefits related information sessions and responding to employees’ requests for assistance
  • Administer various company leave programs
  • Work closely with HR Manager on employee relation issues
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data and make recommendations to the management team for continuous improvement
  • Maintain and manage HRIS records
  • Oversee company compliance programs including drug and alcohol testing programs and associated federal and state reporting requirements
  • Participate in managing company’s Affirmative Action Program
  • Provide input in administering, maintaining and developing company policies
  • Assist HR manager with various annual company initiatives such as wellness, college fund scholarship program, education assistance programs, and various onsite events such as flu clinics
  • Assist in recruitment efforts for all staff openings to include interns and temporary employees
  • Assist in executing recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels and partners with managers to develop recruiting plans

Knowledge & Skills

  • Action oriented - able to move quickly and execute new processes and programs effectively
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide recommendations to solve issues
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders
  • Ability to prepare, analyze and present clear and concise data to the organization

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or related discipline; or equivalent years of relevant HR experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in HR required
  • Experience with HRIS systems. Experience working in Workday a plus
  • Strong experience in recruiting and project management
  • Experience in a fast paced and innovative environment
  • Experience in professional services firm preferred
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications -Word, Excel & PowerPoint required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
