HUMAN RESOUCES GENERALIST – Maryland (LANHAM)

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties and working closely with management. This position will establish processes and procedures and carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, employee law compliance, and the employee experience. This position reports to the Chief
Financial Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Administration of Human Resource processes and programs, such as: benefit enrollment/terminations (COBRA), data entry, records maintenance and retention, compliance, special events, reporting and open enrollment
  • Assist with recruitment
  • Assist in preparation of policy manuals, interpretation of such policies and administration of policies in a fair and equitable manner
  • Maintenance of employee handbook
  • Answering HR policy and procedure questions
  • Coordinating and maintaining of post offer/onboarding steps such as: ordering background checks, completing offer letter and assisting with documentation, and sending out and collecting new hire paperwork
  • Create and maintain Human Resource forms and employee electronic files, including I-9 documentation, proof of citizenship and immigration
  • Maintenance of the PayChex system, including initial data entry for new hires, maintain updates and changes to employee information, promotions, title, salary changes and reporting structure
  • Works with the Controller to upload and verify annual updates and bonuses
  • Act as the initial contact for employee questions and requests providing appropriate guidance
  • Assist with annual compliance and training activities
  • Serves as the primary resource for management and employees to aid in evaluating and resolving human relations and work-related problems
  • Fosters employee engagement to create a positive employee experience
  • Cultivates a culture tied to our core values
  • Works on special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant work experience and/or training
  • Previous experience in human resources
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time Management and Organizational skills
  • Ability to promote team morale and promote corporate culture
  • Initiative, motivation, and ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
  • Technical aptitude with HR software platforms or workforce management systems (proficient in MS Office tools)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
