Housing Manager

The Samaritan Health Center, located in West Bend, Wisconsin has an excellent opportunity for a Housing Manager within our assisted living facility. The Samaritan Campus serves the needs of Washington County citizens as they age and have health, housing and rehabilitation needs.

The Housing Manager is responsible for assisting with planning, implementing and monitoring services for residents within The Fields assisted living—RCAC and CBRF units, consistent with regulations and established best practices. This position will support residents through quality of life programming and service coordination. This position will also coordinate volunteer services for the Samaritan Campus as a whole.

Pay based on experience.

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • An associate degree or higher from an accredited college in a health care related field. o OR a bachelor's degree in a field other than in health care from an accredited college and one year experience working in a health care related field. o OR a bachelor's degree in a field other than in health care from an accredited college and have successfully completed an assisted living administrator's training course approved by the department or the department's designee. o OR at least 2 years’ experience working in a health care related field and have successfully completed an assisted living administrator's training course approved by the department or the department's designee.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Two years of previous supervisory experience in aging services/long term care.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Campus Administrator, the Housing Manager is responsible for assisting with planning, implementing and monitoring services for residents within

The Fields assisted living—RCAC and CBRF units, consistent with regulations and established best practices. This position will support residents through quality of life programming and service coordination. This position will also coordinate volunteer services for the Samaritan Campus as a whole.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Resident Living

  • Work with the Assistant Administrator and staff to create and maintain an environment that achieves high quality care of residents and maintain their independence and dignity to the highest degree possible with-in the Samaritan continuum.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the management team to blend together housing, health care and hospitality. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers.
  • Assist residents in their self-determination and development of group functions and therapeutic activities to ensure a high quality of life in the RCAC and CBRF
  • Assist and guide staff in the development of resident appropriate functions and activities. Assist with appropriate resources, ideas and implementation.
  • Support the Admissions Coordinator and Assistant Administrator for calls, tours, follow up as needed

Resident Services Coordination

  • Plan, implement and monitor the provision of resident services for The Fields.
  • Provide service coordination for residents to include arranging and/or referring appropriate support services.
  • Partner with Administrators, residents and families to ensure that resident needs are being met. Respond to day to day operational concerns in collaboration with other departments.
  • Attend resident and family conferences to ensure excellent communication and care coordination. Serve as a liaison for resident and family councils.

Management

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Administrator in the overall planning, decision-making and implementation processes for campus strategies, policies and procedures and enhancing communication with staff
  • Attend meetings as requested. Communicate strategies and polices to staff, volunteers and residents as needed.
  • Assists with budget planning for the CBRF, RCAC and Volunteer departments.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, and disciplinary actions of activity and personal services personnel and volunteers.
  • Assists in planning fund-raisers, resident outings, community involvement activities, intergenerational programs, staff/resident functions.
  • Meets with families and/or other department supervisors and resolves concerns, issues, problems.
  • Work schedule may be adjusted to meet needs of the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.

Volunteer Coordination (This is assumed to be 50% of the position)

  • Identify needs of the campus and recruit qualified volunteers to assist in a robust Volunteer program through resident activities, outings and special events.
  • Schedule volunteers according to their availability and needs of the campus.
  • Develop and manage a tracking system for the hours.
  • Provide support, coaching and correction as needed to volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition annually and appreciation on a regular basis.
  • Meet regulatory requirements throughout the volunteer program

Work Direction Received: Works under the general direction of the Campus Administrator.

Supervision Exercised: Assists in the oversight of Resident Assistants and is the primary director of the work and service of the Volunteers.

Decision Making: Decisions are made independently concerning daily work priorities; supporting residents and coordinating volunteers.

Interaction: Interactions are with residents, families, other County employees, other County departments, persons outside the County structure, various community groups and the general public.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities: Experience in senior housing, service or health care related environment; demonstrated knowledge and experience in resident service coordination, resident and family support systems, marketing and community outreach.

Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and techniques of activity programming for a long term care population, specialty needs of facility residents, and rules and regulations affecting the facilities. Ability to organize and supervise the work of others, stimulate resident interest in activity programs, and establish and maintain effective public and working relationships. Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, residents, families, volunteers. Ability to deal effectively with stress created by sick, handicapped residents, multiple tasks, noises, frequent interruptions; and work cooperatively as part of the interdisciplinary team while maintaining a pleasant demeanor. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, including wheelchair transport, lifting, bending, reaching; sensory demands (seeing and hearing ability to touch others); and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization). Requires

varying degrees of pushing, pulling and lifting due to the differences in residents’ weights, which could be up to 50 pounds.

Demonstrated computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and other common computer programs. Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.

Training and Experience: A Degree in Gerontology, Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Health Care Administration, Certified Activity Professional, or Nursing and a minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role in aging services/long term care. Computer knowledge helpful. Must be available to work flexible hours. Must be CPR certified.

Pay: $55,954.00 - $74,402.00 per year
