The ideal candidate will have previous nursing home housekeeping experience, excellent customer service skills and the desire to do a great job!

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school grade education

or its equivalent.

  • Previous nursing home experience is desired

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Alternating weekends and holidays are required
  • Maintain inside areas so they are safe, sanitary and clean for staff, visitors and residents
  • Ensure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures; use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials.
  • Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures appropriately per department and area. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure that work assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on break and at the end of the workday. Keep work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Refer to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) when necessary.
  • Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDS.
  • Follow all established fire safety policies/procedures and safety precautions when performing maintenance services/tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your Supervisor immediately.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your Supervisor as soon as

possible.

  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g. back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting heavy objects. Report all incident/accidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (Note: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.
  • Keep all records and logs current as required by the department.
  • Perform any other pertinent duties as assigned by my supervisor. I understand that emergency conditions may require me to temporarily work shifts other than the one for which I have applied and been assigned, and agree to such scheduling changes and overtime as necessary to ensure proper operation of the Homes as directed by my supervisor.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKER TRAITS:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept

constructive criticism.

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must posses the ability to deal with the elderly and disabled.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a maximum of 50 pounds to a maximum height of 2 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a distance of 100 feet.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Will work in all areas of the facility.

VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: attends in-service programs and staff development

programs as provided by the facility to maintain compliance with the Department of Health and other regulatory agencies, as well as Nursing Home policies and procedures.

JOB HAZARDS: Minors are prohibited from performing certain duties involving the

use of power driven equipment and the mixing and usage of chemicals as outlined by labor law regulations.

Lifting requirements/restrictions.

  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air

contaminants.

  • May be required to work in cramped spaces and adverse weather conditions.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Is exposed to power equipment.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB

and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
