Nurse Next Door, Hampton Roads, is currently seeking compassionate, highly-skilled, and reliable Caregivers to join our growing Home Health Care Team. In this role, you will work closely with clientele -- providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living in the home-setting. A Personal Care Aide provides various services to a person who is unable to care for themselves on their own. These duties may include things like cooking food, picking up heavy objects, dressing, bathing, using the restroom, and performing simple housekeeping tasks. The main types of people that personal care aides serve are the physically disabled, the cognitively impaired, the chronically ill, and the elderly.

What A Personal Care Aide Does:

A Personal Care Aide helps clientele with activities of daily living, light housekeeping, and errands.

Help With In Home Acts of Daily Living (ADLs):

Personal Care Aides help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:

· Bathing

· Brushing hair and teeth

· Dressing

· Using the bathroom

· Meal preparation, special diets, and healthy eating

· Medication reminders

By helping with personal care, proper meals, and prescription drug compliance, Personal Care Aides allow their clients to enjoy some independence while staying in their homes safely.

Light Housekeeping:

Another important part of caregiving is maintaining a clean home. Personal Care Aides often help with light housekeeping, including:

· Vacuuming

· Sweeping

· Dusting

· Laundry

· Linen changes

Many older adults take pride in housekeeping and don’t realize when household tasks become too hard for them to perform. A Personal Care Aide creates a safe and healthy environment for clientele, while helping them remain in a familiar, comfortable setting.

Run Errands and Medical Appointment Transportation:

Most Personal Care Aides provide help in transporting clientele to stores and medical appointments. These errands and appointments can include trips to the:

· Grocery Store

· Pharmacy

· Hardware Store

· Post Office

· Doctor’s Office

· Dentist’s Office

· Optometrist

Personal Care Aides help clientele keep track of food and household items. PCAs make sure that any spoiled food is discarded and replaced with fresh, healthy options that comply with special dietary needs.

Another important role for Personal Caregivers is to bring clientele to doctors’ offices. Medical appointments can be stressful for older adults. Having a familiar companion at their side, while they are waiting, when they receive instructions and when they need to schedule their next appointment, is very valuable.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.50 - $13.50 per hour
