Position Description

Position Title: Home Assessor

Reports To: Housing Services Program Manager

Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Status: Salaried: 40 hours per week

Range: $16.00-$22.00 per hour

Date: September 21, 2017

Summary/Objective: Under general supervision of the Housing Manager, the Home Assessor will assess client homes to determine eligibility for CAAC's housing programs. Home assessments will vary based on the program a client is applying for, but all will include one or more of the following items: visual inspection, various diagnostic tests, and a client interview. Position will coordinate all Housing Services funded programs to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local guidelines. Position works with crews and contractors to ensure mandated installation, equipment, product and repair procedures are adhered to. Prepares reports, handles information requests, database entry, and performs clerical functions to include; correspondence, spreadsheet creation, and client communications. All work performed goes towards our goal at CAAC of helping people and changing lives!

Essential Functions:

• Whole home assessments to determine eligibility for CAAC's housing programs.
• Home Assessments include an assessment of the roof, windows, doors, surrounding hazards, foundation, mechanical systems, appliances, insulation and attic. Assessments Identify hazards such as asbestos (e.g., vermiculite, insulating pipe/duct wrap), electrical hazards (e.g. open wiring, knob and tube), exterior water infiltration and moisture, plumbing leaks and structural damage (fall-through hazards, e.g. collapse). Home assessments may require assessment of attic and crawlspace areas of homes.
• Responsible for daily operations of Housing Services Programs as assigned by the Housing Manager.
• Completes all paperwork with efficiency and accuracy regarding housing and weatherization program policies.
• Keeps current on all governmental and contractual regulations, procedures, and systems as they relate to program management and implementation.
• Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients/staff, and a willingness to work with others.
• Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, understanding of our clients' situations, punctuality, and dependability.
• Provides essential training and direction for volunteers and staff regarding housing program activities and documentation procedures.
• Maintain all programmatic and client confidentiality standards.
• Assists clients in attaining agency service; provides opportunities and resources during initial contact and appointment setting.
• Assists in determining client eligibility for services within the Housing Services portfolio based on stakeholder and agency guidelines.
• Maintains hard copy and digital records of client eligibility and services as programmatically required.
• Attain or maintain certifications as required by programmatic stakeholders.
• Stays current on all regulations, systems, and procedures as related to the Community Service Program Manual and Housing Services Program portfolio(s).
• Communicates with internal staff at all levels.
• Coordinates and completes project-based work.
• Other duties as assigned by Housing Manager and/or Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer.
