WRA is currently seeking an entry level Highway Engineer to join our team in our Pittsburgh Regional office (Cranberry Township, PA). This is an exciting opportunity for a civil engineer that will be responsible for the planning and design on transportation related projects using modern software. This is an opportunity to employ creativity and innovation in transportation design and to aid the senior engineers in identifying continuous improvement ideas. The successful candidate should be a strong communicator who is comfortable managing internal and external interfaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing engineering and design for a multitude of transportation and highways-related projects based on the client’s criteria. Coordinate traffic utility and drainage design integration
  • Developing 3-D models utilizing software such as Microstation CONNECT and OpenRoads Designer
  • Performing drainage design and analysis utilizing software such as PondPack, HydroCAD and OpenRoads Designer Drainage Toolbox
  • Preparation of construction plans and specifications
  • Assist in the preparation of quantities and cost estimates under the direction of the project engineer
  • Develop preliminary engineering evaluations and studies to identify design improvement alternatives, compare options, and assist in making design recommendations as it relates to Roadway Design
  • Development of technical reports for Roadway & Drainage designs as well as transportation studies.
  • Be responsible for project quality on tasks assigned as defined in the Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines

Requirements:

  • B.S.C.E (ABET-accredited program) with 0-5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant internship/job experience related to transportation engineering.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD,
  • Experience with 3-D modeling tools such as InRoads/OpenRoads experience is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
