Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Health Educator (HE) III for the Department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. The (HE) III is responsible for community engagement activities that involve recruitment, education, retention and support activities for clinical trials. Community engagement activities will stimulate public awareness and knowledge around clinical trials conducted by the department, promoting evidence based and sound health practices as well as local resources, and building/maintaining community and team-based partnerships.. Promotion of public awareness of infectious diseases that include but is not limited to HIV, STIs and COVID-19 as well as opioid use and substance use disorders will also be the responsibility of the HEIII.

- Performs outreach to participants of NJMS Research With A Heart as needed and engages in providing appropriate referral services to participants. Maintains knowledge of referral sources in the Greater Newark area and updates team as appropriate.
- Assists with the development and facilitation of community service projects, events, and other special projects.
- Assists with development of social media education, posts, and campaigns in support of current studies and departmental goals.
- Maintains client records confidential and in compliance with the standards set by local, institutional, and federal guidelines.
- Assures that all protocol specific enrollment and retention targets are met; if targets are not being met, assesses in collaboration with research team to identify new approaches and strategies.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with health education, marketing and social media content creation and management.
- Experience with CANVA, Qualtrx, Redcap.
- Working knowledge of Newark and the Greater Essex County Community.
- NJDOH certified HIV counselor preferred or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
- Proficiency in Spanish/Portuguese is preferred.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
