The Barrow County Health Department is seeking a Health Educator for the Winder clinic. The ideal candidate will promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities adopt healthy behaviors. Identify community needs in the field of adolescent health, especially as it relates to teen pregnancy prevention and comprehensive sex education. Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.

Specific duties include: classroom education, one-on-one health education, clinical intake, promotion of awareness events, and hosting parent education sessions. Must be willing to work both independently as well as part of an Adolescent Health Team. Collaboration with clinical staff, schools, and community groups is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university
OR
Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

Annual salary $38,500 plus generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.

This position is in Winder, GA, and does not offer relocation assistance. Must be within a reasonable commuting distance. If relocating to Winder, GA, please specify on the application.

Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
