Like working in a fast paced environment with every speciality patient needing
care? Then we have the job for you. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated
individual to the role of Band 3 Nursing Assistant for the Same Day Emergency
Care Unit (SDEC). This is an exciting opportunity to start a new service within the
Emergency Services Division, as part of the NHS long term plan to provide a
same day services 24 hours a day for all speciality patients.
The SDEC is a 38 trolley space providing care for all speciality patients for the
trust. The unit is operational 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and is designed to
facilitate rapid assessment and investigation of speciality patients referred from
GP, NHS 111 and the Emergency department. Our Urgent Treatment Centre for
minor injuries and illnesses is also part of the SDEC and you will be expected to
work in all areas.
Those who need hospital admission are streamed to either The Acute Medical
Unit or specialist wards in the Trust or externally.

Our team is enhanced by Clinical Practice Facilitators, Consultant nurses,
Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Emergency Nurse Practitioners who are
available to support you both clinically and professionally within the multi
professional emergency services team.
The band 3 nursing assistant role will be suited to those who have got hospital
experience and have a history working within acute and/or emergency care and
thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment. This will be an excellent opportunity to
gain knowledge and skills required to manage a variety of patients within a highly
skilled multi-disciplinary team.
The ideal candidates will be dynamic and forward thinking with a progressive
approach to enhancing patient care and safety within urgent, emergency and
acute care services. You will be a compassionate, enthusiastic and confident
individual, who is able to provide the highest standard of patient care, under
supervision. You will need to be able to prioritise, work under pressure and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will need to be reliable, hardworking and trustworthy.
Candidates will have to attend an assessment in person before the interview.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience / HSC Diploma level 3 Advanced / Higher apprenticeship level 3
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in carrying out assigned duties after training
- Working in a team
- Working in a Health Care or related setting
- Good standard of written and spoken English
Communication

- Able to communicate accurately and effectively with patients and colleagues, verbally and in writing
- Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
- Able to deal with the public in person and on the phone
- Able to support and reassure patients/carers in distress
- Understands importance of maintaining confidentiality

- Demonstrates understanding of own role within the team
- Willing to produce a personal development plan with manager
- Willing to develop self & undertake in-house study and care certificate

- Ability to summon help in an emergency.
