Head Start Area Supervisor – Southwestern Wisconsin

The Head Start program of the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program is looking for area supervisors to support our Head Start classrooms.

This is a full-time, weekday, day shift position. While travel to various classroom sites is expected, there is no evening or weekend work. The starting pay rate for the area supervisor is $18.51 per hour and may be higher depending on your qualifications. Sign-on and retention bonuses are available. Several openings, each covering a different part of the SWCAP Head Start service area, are available.

As an area supervisor, you support the classroom leads at several Head Start classrooms. The area supervisor coaches and guides the classroom leads in developing classroom activities, planning educational programs, and assuring that classrooms are safe, nurturing places that promote early childhood development. You become well-versed in Head Start standards and help classroom staff to grow in their careers as child development specialists. You may also oversee a small number of Head Start Home visitors that serve the same area.

To be a Head Start area supervisor, you need:

· A minimum of an Associate’s Degree – a Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred – in early childhood development, or a closely related field.

· Previous work experience teaching young children.

· A valid driver’s license with use of an insured vehicle.

· Basic computer skills.

· Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.

· The ability to work independently within program requirements.

· A love of children and a passion for helping young children grow and learn.
