Head Start Area Supervisor

The Head Start program of the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program is looking for an area supervisor to support our Head Start classrooms, mostly in the northern Grant county, Wisconsin, area, and in Richland County.

This is a full-time, weekday, day shift position. While travel to various classroom sites is expected, there is no late-night or weekend work. The starting pay rate for the area supervisor is $18.51 per hour and may be higher depending on your qualifications. The area supervisor oversees the classroom leads at several Head Start classrooms. The area supervisor coaches and guides the classroom leads in developing classroom activities, planning educational programs, and assuring that classrooms are safe and nurturing places that promote early childhood development. The area supervisor needs to become well-versed in Head Start standards, and help classrooms meet or exceed standards. The area supervisor encourages and promotes the professional development of classroom staff. The area supervisor may also oversee a small number of Head Start Home Visitors that serve the same area.

To be a Head Start area supervisor, you need:

· A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood development, or a closely related field.

· Previous work experience teaching young children.

· A valid Driver’s License with use of an insured vehicle.

· The ability to pass Head Start-required pre-employment check. We help you through these.

· Basic computer skills.

· Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.

· An ability to work independently within a framework of program requirements.

· A love for children and a passion for helping young children grow and learn.
