Title: Head of Protein Analytics

Role Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished scientific leader with analytical expertise to lead our Protein Analytics team. Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer, this role is part of our senior leadership and oversees a team of 15+ researchers with the responsibility of rapidly and efficiently producing high quality data to support both internal and external partners. The position requires a high degree of cross-functional teamwork, technical excellence, and vision to implement method development and novel scientific approaches based on literature reviews, industry trends, and internal research and development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Technical expert: Have direct expertise on, or experience managing, a variety of analytical techniques for the purpose of characterizing lead therapeutic antibody panels. Partner with key business stakeholders (internal and external) to consistently provide quality data in a dynamic and time-sensitive environment.
• Strategic thinker: Contribute to scientific discussions at all levels and across all functions within the organization, as well as help troubleshoot complex technical challenges. Ensure the Protein Analytics Group is prepared to meet partner expectations and emerging needs. Identify new research directions and process improvements.
• Seasoned leader: Lead and develop a team of 15+ scientists and research associates to successfully deliver on company objectives and obligations to partners. Create a team-oriented, empowered group that views quality and service as top objectives. At the same time, foster an innovative environment that welcomes diverging opinions and nurtures new ideas. Communicate honestly and directly. When necessary, align cross-functional stakeholders around common goals through effective communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Professionally represent Adimab to customers and during business development opportunities.

Needed upon hire

• Ph.D. plus 7-15 years of leadership experience in a research and development role focused on protein analytics (preferably with antibodies)
• Deep knowledge of therapeutic antibody characterization, from lead panel characterization to pre-clinical candidate selection, and the analytical techniques commonly used therein
• Strong understanding of protein chemistry, particularly with respect to developability characteristics (e.g. aggregation, polyspecificity, posttranslational modifications)
• Direct experience with or experience managing a wide-variety of analytical assays and techniques, such as BLI, SPR, HIC, aSEC, SDS-PAGE, LC/MS, peptide mapping, proteomics, DSF, DSC, DLS, CZE, cIEF, AC-SINS, ELISA, and protein conjugation
• Strong publication record, peer-reviewed or patent filings
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex scientific data
• Comfortable dealing with multiple overlapping projects and time-sensitive workflows
• Ability to set and drive big picture strategy while also having the capability to provide technical guidance
• Ability to recruit, inspire, and motivate a research team to work together as a cohesive and productive group
• Known as an honest and ethical leader who gives credit where it is due
• Hardworking, leads by example, working alongside team as needed
• Decisive, makes tough calls quickly when circumstances require it
