Our Client, a leader in commercial real estate and facilities/asset management is seeking to add a Hardware Technician to its team. This role will work ONSITE in Ashburn, VA and works 1stshift M-F hours – 8am-5:00pm and requires flexibility to work some nights and weekends. This is a contract to hire role that pays $33 per hour. Upon conversion this role offers increased compensation, an annual bonus plan, and a strong benefit package.

As a Hardware Technician, you will be responsible for rack and stack activities, cabling, troubleshooting, and ensuring the proper functioning of IT equipment. Your primary focus will be on physical installations, cable terminations, and verifying connectivity to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform rack and stack activities, including the installation and removal of IT equipment according to specifications.
• Handle cabling tasks, such as running, routing, terminating, and testing copper cables.
• Troubleshoot circuits and promptly locate and resolve any issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure proper end-to-end connectivity by inspecting and verifying all installed cabling.
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure copper cables are correctly terminated and devices receive signals.
• Perform physical tasks, such as climbing ladders and lifting equipment, as required.
• Follow provided drawings to place cabinets on the floor in designated locations.
• Install and remove hardware components within cabinets.
• Conduct cable surveys to determine requirements, distances, and cable types.
• Professionally terminate Cat6 cabling according to industry standards.
• Install Cat6 and Fiber cables based on provided Excel spreadsheets.
• Trace and troubleshoot installed cables to identify and resolve connectivity issues.

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• 2-5+ years of experience as a Hardware Technician, with a strong background in installing and configuring computer hardware systems.
• Excellent multitasking abilities to handle complex technical issues efficiently.
• Customer-focused attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and Excel spreadsheets.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues promptly.
• Physical capability to perform tasks that may involve climbing ladders and lifting heavy equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
