Hiring for 2nd shift and overnights to help 4 gentlemen be more independent in their own home. Every other weekend is required.

Direct Support Professional Job Description

Direct support professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities with the aim of assisting them to integrate with their communities. Sandgate is a beautiful 4 bedroom home in a nice neighborhood. The gentlemen who live there are in their 30's and attend Creative Life and Work through the week. 3 gentlemen are good with ADL's while the 4th will need some extra love. Staff must be certified in Med Cert 1 and Med Cert 2 to meet the needs of the home. Not certified? If you have a High School Diploma or GED, we'll happily train. All 4 enjoy going out into the community and a company vehicle is provided.

A DSP is a hero responsible to provide direct services, transportation and support to the individual, including, but not limited to: assisting in maintaining a clean, safe living environment, dining, personal care tasks such as showering and tooth brushing and completion of various household tasks; supervising, teaching, and assisting the individual in every aspect of their life, with the goals of fostering increased independence, choice and empowerment. A DSP is also an advocate, helping people in communicating needs, self-expression, and goals as well as assuring justice and equality in community life.
