POSITION SUMMARY:

The Greenskeeper 1 position is responsible for performing routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. This involves performing semi-skilled ground construction and maintenance work, operating small hand-powered equipment, and occasionally performing work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and large mowers. This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course and does related work as required. This position will receive daily supervision and is expected to work collectively with other members of the Poppy Hills maintenance team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain greens by blowing off any debris (leaves, pine needles, sand, etc,), fixing all ball marks on the greens, report all high plugs on the greens, report any damage or suspicious looking activity on the green (gophers, deer marks, vandalism or disease), and hand mow greens.
• Maintaining bunkers by removing all debris prior to raking, remove all weeds daily, rake sand towards the bunker edges so that the sand does not settle at the bottom of the bunker, ensure bunker lips are uniform according to our standards:
  • Greens Side Bunkers ? Lips facing towards the green need to be no more than 4 inches high and the lips at the back of the bunker should be no more that 1 inch
• Bunker rakes should be properly placed according to our standards:
  • Greens Side Bunkers ? Rakes should be placed inside the bunker with the head of the rake facing towards the center of the green and the handle no more that 6 inches inside the trap
  • Fairway Bunkers ? Rakes should always be placed inside of the bunker parallel to the direction of play
• Monitor bunker sand depth and adjust by adding or moving sand around the bunker to ensure proper depths and inform Superintendent and/or Assistant of necessary adjustments
• Waters tees, and fairways, maintain clean and straight rope lines to redirect cart traffic around turf areas with issues.
• Helps with project work; assists in the construction of new golf course features.
• Assist with daily cleaning of the maintenance facility as assigned.
• May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment.
• Support and always promote safe work habits and a safe working environment.
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings
• Other duties as assigned, including professional development
