The Georgia Department of Labor is currently seeking applicants to fill the Graphic Design Manager position in the Communications Office at the Georgia Department of Labor Headquarters in downtown Atlanta, Ga.


Position Overview

The GDOL Graphic Design Manager is responsible for design projects that include electronic and printed graphics while maintaining a distinctive brand identity. The ideal candidate combines industry experience with a strong collaborative spirit that elevates GDOL’s brand to the public. This position will work alongside the Director of Communications, the department’s chosen marketing agency, and the GDOL executive team to craft a fresh, innovative brand identity, including a new logo, color scheme, and corresponding marketing elements.


The position will occasionally assist the GDOL Print Shop with large-scale projects and ensure top-notch print quality. Additionally, the Graphic Design Manager will work closely with internal and external parties to ensure documents are maintained and updated regularly.


Salary is commensurate with experience and a hybrid work schedule is possible at the discretion of the director.


Essential Function & Responsibilities

Design and produce the following:

  • Social Media Graphics Newsletters/Email-Marketing
  • Digital presentations, including PowerPoint
  • Website Design Collaboration
  • Standardized templates, including PowerPoints, flyers, and social media
  • Print Ads
  • High impact graphics for training and promotional videos
  • Marketing collateral
  • GDOL internal training graphics and flyers
  • Signage for use at statewide career centers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of graphic design principles, media, and production
  • College degree in design – Graphic Art, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics or a closely-related field preferred
  • Four to six years of design experience preferred; negotiable based on skill level
  • Understanding of branding and marketing standards
  • Fully proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Express) as well as Canva and Word
  • Adobe Premier experience is a plus
  • Familiar with digital file formats (vector and raster)
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Comfortable working across departmental teams
  • Ability to accurately check files for color separations, minimum press specs, spelling, and document sizing, etc.
  • Ability to maintain highly organized digital filing systems for all graphic output
  • Proactive, team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working with commercial printers and the pre-production process or open to learning

Associate's degree from an accredited college AND Three years of professional related experience OR Vocational/Technical degree in graphic arts, applied arts, commercial art, fine arts or a related field from an accredited college AND Three years of professional related experience OR Five years of professional related experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
