Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will work with Research Therapeutic Discovery clients to identify and implement process improvements that enable efficient lab operations increasing speed and quality of the discovery pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal cross functional teams, service providers and other Amgen stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements that enable efficient lab operations

  • Apply Lean philosophy and principles, continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies

  • Establish and manage fit for purpose project tracking and reporting tools (SharePoint, Smartsheet dashboards and project management tools, etc.)

  • Apply project management skills by scheduling and facilitating effective project meetings and driving decision making in a matrix environment

  • Prepare and present process improvement proposals for leadership agreement and implementation, agreement and next steps, project outcomes and accomplishments

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older

  • Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a

  • Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR

  • Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the co-op

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree concentration(s) in Engineering, Life Sciences or Business

  • Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement methodology experience or understanding of concepts

  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology industries

  • Project management experience understanding and awareness

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment

  • Strong use of excel, other Microsoft Office programs, Visio, Miro, Tableau and Smartsheet

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour.
