Overall Purpose Of The Job

Manage the day-to-day global security operations for the Aviation & Maritime (A&M) business line. The Security Manager, Operations – A&M will be responsible for all aspects of the A&M Security Operations Platform. He/she will also have primary responsibility for managing and training local and dispersed Security Managers – A&M and Security Specialists A&M where appropriate to deliver security products and services to a global aviation and maritime client base. Further, the Security Operations Manager – A&M will ensure routine communication and coordination with all Regional Security Centers (RSCs) to maximize use of shared resources, intelligence gathering capabilities, regional service delivery and training requirements specific to the needs of the A&M business line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, provide operational guidance, and mentor Security Managers – A&M.
  • Act as liaison between the wider A&M and Intl SOS operational platforms to service aviation and maritime security clients.
  • Develops and manages security training syllabi for A&M personnel and regional security personnel in support of the A&M platform and agenda.
  • Works closely with the Security Product & Technical Manager – A&M regarding products and services, notably security consulting opportunities.
  • Coordinates closely, routinely communicates, and aligns with all Regional Security Center Security Directors of Operations and Security Operations Managers
  • Develops mission planning and execution support materials, databases, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collects, manages, and analyzes case activity and operational delivery to assess operational efficiency, adherence to quality KPIs, capacity planning, and various reporting functions.
  • Contribute to the security provider network strategy


Manages and delegates various tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Collation of intelligence information, operational materials, and proprietary medical information to prepare final products for mission briefings, assessments, and reports.
  • Preparation, maintenance, and delivery of reports and briefings to A&M client base when applicable.
  • Airfield/aerodrome analysis using imagery, available information, research, etc.
  • Maintenance of appropriate databases, e.g. geospatial airfield database, maritime ports, and other pertinent imagery to provide reports and live briefings to aviation clients.
  • Identification of commercial and business aviation airports in countries currently available via A&M and Security portals.
  • Providing information and materials to aircrew and mission planners for mission construction and execution.
  • Scoping and delivery of security consulting engagements.
  • Compiles, segregates, evaluates researches, interprets, analyzes, and disseminates information and analysis relevant to A&M clients.
  • Establishes information and analysis collection requirements relevant to the A&M client base.
  • Evaluates information to determine whether it is accurate prior to incorporating into client facing assessments and reports.
  • When activated, act as key member of crises management teams (CMT) and/or incident management teams (IMT), as appropriate or as designated.
  • Works closely with Security Directors and the Product Team to improve product offerings and develop new products.
  • Occasionally travels with sales force to act as subject matter expert (SME) and supports client visits to global A&M offices.
  • Facilitate training for regional security and operations staff (A&M and International SOS) in call handling and call handling for aviation and maritime security operations and for sales staff together with other members of the A&M Team.
  • Provide technical support to the A&M sales team on suite of A&M security products.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to manage a team, directly or remotely, and provide operational direction and guidance.
  • Ability to source, interpret and organize intelligence and security information from numerous sources.
  • Ability to develop and deliver custom formatted security briefing products tailored to security and medical customer requirements to be delivered verbally and/or in various written formats.
  • Ability to quickly coordinate resources to meet security and travel information needs of commercial, VIP and VVIP customers enrolled in A&M membership programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Aviation and maritime security planning expertise.
  • Ability to manage the development and implementation of products by the A&M product team.
  • Coordination of personal security services for A&M clients.
  • Strong relationship development and stakeholder management skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the International SOS operational structure.
  • Process optimization and use case development.

Required Work Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience with operational civil and/or military aviation intelligence background preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in preparing reports and briefings for aircrew, aviation planning cells and/or security risk managers.
  • Previous international work experience essential.
  • Experience on the International SOS operational platform essential.
  • Experience working in challenging locations essential.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix organization.
  • Cross-cultural work experience essential.
  • Operational security, intelligence, risk management and/or crisis management experience preferred.
  • Experience in business process optimization and/or automation preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • English.
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual candidates a plus.

Travel / Rotation Requirements

  • Less than 25% travel expected.
