Position Description
The Earth Sciences department at City College of San Francisco is currently seeking to hire part-time Geography faculty to provide instruction in Physical and Human Geography. We primarily serve students seeking transfer degrees. Instructors can expect to work with students at various learning levels in a collaborative department environment and work on furthering the goals of the college.

Job Duties
1. Teach one or more of the following college-level courses in the Earth Sciences Department:

Climate Change

Cultural Geography

Economic Geography

Geographic Information Systems ( GIS )

Physical Geography

Physical Geography Laboratory

World Regional Geography

2. Perform duties associated with instruction and assessing student progress which include, but are not limited to, grading, required recordkeeping, evaluate and report student learning outcomes, etc.

3. Participate in departmental functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum development, and assessment of student learning outcomes.

4. Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes on and off campus as required.

5. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

City College of San Francisco Minimum Requirements:
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

2. Earned Master’s Degree or higher in Geography from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT .

Desirable Qualifications
1. Master’s thesis and/or professional experience that included a field investigation.

2. Previous successful teaching experience at the college level in one or more of the following courses:

Climate Change

Cultural Geography

Economic Geography

Geographic Information Systems ( GIS )

Physical Geography

Physical Geography Laboratory

World Regional Geography

3. Public outreach, professional publications, and/or other teaching experience.

4. Demonstrated commitment to improving instruction and student assessment methodologies through professional development.

5. Experience organizing and leading field trips and field research experiences with students.

6. Demonstrated ability to teach students with widely varying abilities and levels of preparation.

7. Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with colleagues.

8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

9. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and functions of a community college.
