Department: Foundation
Status: Exempt / Full Time Employee
Pay: $52,000 - $55,000 (DOQ)
Reports to: Foundation Executive Director

Job Summary:
The Jekyll Island Foundation is the official nonprofit of the Jekyll Island Authority. The Fundraising & Development Manager is a critical member of the team that facilitates true impact on the conservation and preservation of one of Georgia's most beautiful and serene locations. Reporting to and in partnership with the Foundation Executive Director (ED), the Fundraising & Development Manager will perform a range of activities to support all aspects of the development, fundraising and donor stewardship of the Jekyll Island Foundation. The Fundraising & Development Manager is responsible for all fundraising and development activities and will forge new and nurture existing relationships to build lasting connections among donors and increase financial resources. This role oversees annual giving, including membership/sponsorship renewals, special events, planned giving programs and grant opportunities.


Description of duties to conduct donor relations including but not limited to:
Development Operations
  • Assist in the development of goals and strategies for fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met, adhering to approved budgets.
  • Assist with creation and execution of a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors, major gifts, corporations, and foundations.
  • Conduct donor prospect research to identify new corporate, foundation, and individual prospects and funding opportunities.
  • Generate revenue reports for executive director as a part of monthly reconciliation of donation data and annual audit.
  • Manage CRM (Bloomerang), including monthly data hygiene and entry, gift processing, and donor research. Assist with donor cultivation activities and events.
  • General office administration including but not limited to donor correspondence and board relations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Donor Relations
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors, demonstrating exceptional donor and customer relations skills, handling issues that arise appropriately.
  • Oversee annual giving, membership/sponsorship renewals, and grant writing/management opportunities.
  • Work in partnership with the executive director and digital marketing firm to maximize donor engagement, create prospect lists, and unify messages around Foundation impact.
  • Assist in the solicitation and acquisition of contributions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field. May consider a combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
  • Three to five years relevant experience in relationship sales, fundraising, or donor cultivation, development, and support preferred.
  • Demonstrate experience and proficiency with CRM best practices, Bloomerang preferred.
  • Proficient in general MS Office required; experience with social media and website editing on a WordPress platform a plus.
  • High-level of professionalism, including reliable and exceptional customer service and organizational skills, ability to self-manage priorities, tasks, and time proficiently, and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Ability to work during irregular hours including evenings and weekends to attend meetings/events beyond the normal working schedule.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation with the ability to travel approximately 10% overnight and approximately 30% locally.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent reaching, grasping and using repetitive motions of wrist, hands and fingers.
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent sitting, walking, and/or standing.
  • Less than 25% of the day is spent climbing stairs, crouching and/or stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting.
  • Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribing, use of computers and expansive reading.
  • Sensory abilities required include vision, feeling and touching with more than 50% of the day spent talking and hearing.
  • Majority of work will be performed within an indoor office environment. Typically work is not conducted in adverse environmental conditions, however, on occasion work is subject to outdoor environment including exposure to heat, humidity, cold or other inclement weather.
  • Noise level is considered quiet to normal.
