ASDA are currently undergoing a large-scale project which will shape the whole of our future technology landscape. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Functional Test Lead to be a key part of this transformation.

In this role, you will be leading a team responsible for the testing of front-end technology developments within ASDA, working across three different sites. The role involves leading the planning, design and execution of functional test cases on simple to complex software releases for Asda Point of Sale Systems other front-end systems used in store.

You will report to the Functional Test Manager and be accountable for delivering testing capabilities to time, cost and quality to ensure business value can be achieved. Through your role you'll develop new working relationships with Asda and our suppliers.

The Role

• Responsible for leading and directing test analysts on multiple projects.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise within the QA BAU function.
• Produce test deliverables and milestone activities; tracking progress against them and implement strategies to recover slippage.
• Implement a well-structured approach to defect management and incident reporting.
• Be able to work on multiple projects and manage these projects efficiently and effectively.

• Able to manage risks efficiently within the team and communicate those risks verbally and in writing to our stakeholders.
• Work and communicate with senior stakeholders on a regular basis.

Essential Skills

• Experience with the manual testing processes for both waterfall and agile
• Experience in developing and writing Test Plans, Status Reports and Test Closure reports.
• Experience of managing test teams both onshore and offshore.
• Experience leading a project team in tight timescales.
• Strong communication skills at all levels.
• Ability to be able to jump in and help the team with hands on testing when needed.
• Experience of defining and implementing waterfall, agile and hybrid/custom testing approaches.
• Experience in a senior testing position, including leading a team working on multiple projects.

About You

You will have a good understanding of test best practice along with good knowledge of testing principles.

You'll have experience of hands-on testing and leading a team as either a Senior Test Analyst or Test Lead and have good understanding of both JIRA and HP ALM.

Please note this role is office based and you will be on occasion required to travel to our Wakefield site. There will opportunities to work from home occasionally, but most days will be in the labs, as testing is conducted on site.
