Supervisor: Principal

Status: Non-exempt

Contract Length or Terms of Employment: Hours and work year established by the Superintendent with the approval of the Board of Directors. Rate of pay established by the Board of Directors and the Master Agreement.

JOB GOAL


To assist the teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups in order that they better achieve skill levels commensurate with their abilities.


BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • To prepare the classroom for classroom activities under supervision of the certified teacher.
  • To assist the teacher in organizing and correcting materials for students.
  • To assist the teacher in helping students with assigned learning activities including assisting students with lessons and tests.
  • To assist the teacher in keeping the classroom and work area neat and organized.
  • To work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
  • To assist individual children in need of special attention.
  • To perform clerical duties.
  • To assist the teacher in non-instructional classroom duties.
  • To check students' work, supervise testing and make-up work.
  • To assist with students when appropriate on field trip or activities.
  • To assist the teacher in creating special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs and abilities.
  • To serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher including assisting with student check-in duties when needed.
  • To guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
  • To be responsible for the equipment routing maintenance and storage of classroom equipment.
  • To inform the regular teacher of any problem or special information about an individual student.
  • Supervise students in the absence of the teacher or under the direction of the teacher including assisting the teacher with discipline and behavioral reinforcement.
  • To greet all visitors courteously, and to direct or escort them to the proper area.
  • To treat all students, faculty, and staff courteously and to cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel.
  • To use technology where appropriate in completing assigned duties.
  • To help with and guide the orderly and safe passing of students after school at the stations.
  • To arrive and depart from the building as scheduled.
  • To expand training and skills in job-related areas.
  • To be well organized and professional in fulfilling the responsibilities of job.
  • To dress appropriately for the position and work required.
  • To demonstrate a positive attitude toward school, students and job and to communicate the same to the community.
  • To accept constructive criticism and suggestions and to seek to improve each performance responsibly.
  • To maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
  • To adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
  • To assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Flex Ed instructor.
