Job description
The AmeriCorps VISTA Legal Economic and Educational Advancement Project (LEEAP) at Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice (FC) aims to expand the capacity of FC and partner organizations to promote the rights and address the problems facing marginalized and low-income New Yorkers. FC is committed to recruiting and retaining a team from different cultures, races, educational backgrounds, life experiences, socio-economic classes, sexual orientations, ages, genders, and abilities, especially team members from groups that have historically been underrepresented in professional workplaces. As the VISTA Leader, you provide programmatic support to a total of four projects: two at the Feerick Center and two at other community-based sites. Our projects primarily work with volunteer attorneys who provide civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers with unmet legal service needs. You will gain broad exposure to the NYC/NYS legal community, including the courts, the organized bar, pro bono providers, and legal services organizations. This position employs a hybrid model with at least three days in the office at Fordham School of Law. This model is subject to change during your term of service as per the Feerick Center’s requirements. Fordham University requires all individuals on campus to be vaccinated and boosted, and may require additional boosters during your service term.
Member Duties : Our VISTA Leader supports six VISTA members across three sites to encourage their professional development and support the success of their projects. You will have a hand in member recruitment and selection, orientation and training, project progress data collection and reporting, professional development and teambuilding, and supporting sustainability of the projects. If you are passionate about social justice and fighting poverty, enjoy working collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing, are super organized and pay attention to detail, this position is for you.
