Salary Range

$30.09 - $42.36 / hour

ROLE/ JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to monitor and operate Fluid Bed Unit production equipment and semi-automatic systems in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and operate process equipment by following written procedures to ensure personal safety and product quality
  • Operate a distributed control system (DCS) involving all aspects of plant operation
  • Accurately input production data into computer system
  • Provide direction to the Fluid Bed Technicians when sampling or other MES tasks require.
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Clean and maintain equipment within the Fluid Bed Reactor and Product Handling Unit
  • Monitor chemical inventories and maintain them to acceptable levels
  • Supervise all Hot Work Permits during your assigned shift and area and work closely with maintenance or contractors with any needs to complete their work
  • Maintain a high level of security in your assigned area
  • Act accordingly to all system and plant alarms and follow operating procedures
  • Successful completion and maintenance of the company Operator certification and Emergency Squad Certification
  • Perform Emergency Squad responsibilities as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months to one (1) year related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Operator Certification – To perform the duties of this job, the employee must be able to successfully certify and maintain certification as required by policy
  • Emergency Squad Certification – To function in this position, the employee must be Emergency Squad certified and able to maintain certification annually
  • Basic computer skills including functionality in Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all Fluid Bed Reactor and Product Handling equipment and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to work with others in a group or team

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally push and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lifting and carrying of 30 to 50-pound valves and hoses is required.
  • The operator must be able to push a heavy cart with at least 50 pounds of force.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Radio communication is required.
  • Ladders and stairs are climbed frequently and valves are carried up and downstairs.
  • Personal protective safety equipment and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and bunker gear are required to be used during emergency procedures.
  • A three-inch high-pressure fire hose is used for fire fighting. High grip force is necessary to lift and carry, as well as handle, the equipment.

This position will require the employee to work a 12-hour rotating shift. The work rotation includes some weekends, holidays, and overtime as required, and based on production needs, the company reserves the right to change or modify the schedule

EMERGENCY RESPONSE JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The following is a list of essential job functions employees in an Emergency Response position may be required to perform in the event of an emergency:

  • Follow REC Emergency Response procedures, complete all training requirements and maintain physical fitness health requirements.
  • Operate as a member of a team and or independently at incidents for an unspecified duration of time determined by incident needs
  • Understand, obey and complete complex instructions in a timely manner as dictated by the incident commander.
  • Maintain a high level of attention and concentration during incidents while exercising good judgment
  • Spend extended periods of time in outdoor elements and perform physically demanding tasks/activities while wearing personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Outdoor elements may include extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity while performing duties.
  • Physical demanding tasks/activity may include work in atmospheres ranging from below freezing to extremely hot temperatures.
  • PPE (firefighting gear, self-contained breathing apparatus, etc.) weighs approximately 50 lbs. and significantly impairs body cooling.
  • Perform a variety of tasks on slippery or hazardous surfaces such as ladders or rooftops.
  • Work in environments of limited mobility, high noise, poor visibility, excess heights, and or confined spaces.
  • Able to rely on human senses (sight, hearing, smell, and touch) to determine the nature of the emergency and maintain personal safety.
  • Perform tasks during life-threatening emergencies and deal with potential sights and smells associated with major trauma victims.
  • Ability to perform rapid transitions from rest to near-maximum exertion.
  • Operate motorized vehicles, manual/power tools, or equipment as necessary.
  • Performing search and rescue of victims, possibly weighing over 200 pounds
