Minimum pay is $19.06/hr; additional compensation can be considered for candidates with higher amounts of experience than the minimum requirements. Full Time: a position working 35+ hours per week.

The Lodging & Events Floral Supervisor position will be involved in the selling, design, and execution of floral and event design for both internal and external clients of Biltmore Lodging, weddings and events. In addition, the incumbent will offer guidance and support to the hotel floral staff in planning, creating, installing, and maintaining floral displays at the Inn and other peripheral locations. Other duties will include coordinating with estate floral and event staff on the execution of seasonal design themes. The Floral Supervisor will provide general assistance and support to the departmental management team and company.

Schedule can vary, but is generally 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Supervise and assign daily tasks of the Lodging & Events Floral team.
2. Work with the departmental manager to manage productivity, task execution, organization and quality.
3. Support the department by assisting in meeting and communicating with external and internal clients, preparing design plans/proposals, creating floral recipes/hard good lists.
4. Assist with billing, pricing and ordering.
5. Practice and assist the manager with the following human resources tasks - training, coaching, progressive discipline and evaluation, staff recognition programs, attendance at required meetings, safety training and safety inspections. Ensure a professional work environment.
6. Proper storage and use of Biltmore owned props, operating materials and equipment.
7. Protect the integrity of Biltmore's brand by ensuring the entire team projects a professional and helpful demeanor.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) strongly preferred. Ideal candidate will have some college in a related field.
2. At least four (4) years of experience in the floral industry. Equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered. Preferred candidate will have prior experience in designing/executing floral displays for weddings and events.
3. Strong knowledge of the care/maintenance of blooming and tropical plants; ability to diagnose, and troubleshoot issues; familiar with historic and interpretative design styles.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service; proven leadership skills; ability to build/develop/motivate teams.
5. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; conveys information clearly/concisely; strong public speaking/presentation skills.
6. Excellent planning, organizational, project/time management skills; prioritizes work, adapts, multi-tasks as needed; keen attention to details with focus on quality and service.
7. Able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore’s history, aesthetics, and brand.
8. Proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel; can learn Biltmore systems/processes.
9. Proactive, exercises good judgment; creative, resourceful; problem solves/troubleshoots; demonstrates company values, professionalism; strong ethics.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds a regular basis (with assistance).
2. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time (on concrete and brick).
3. Ability to work repetitively cutting wires, pruning and cutting with shears, bow tying, squeezing glue gun trigger, pressing picking machine, watering plants.
4. Full range of motion; ability to kneel, squat, bend, reach overhead/below, crouch, etc.
5. Pushing and maneuvering (with assistance) watering tanks several times a week.
6. Climbing stairs regularly, and climbing ladders and scaffolding.
7. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old.
