Making a big difference supporting our customers. That’s when it hits home.

Have you been looking to earn some extra cash, while keeping to your current commitments? Now you can! What’s more, you’ll be making a difference!

This is an exciting job opportunity with Home Group – one of the UK’s Largest Housing providers to become part of our brilliant flexible bank. You’ll be supporting our amazing customers while picking and choosing the shifts you want to work.

You’ll be joining our Transforming Care team on our flexible bank; our wonderful customers require a PBS approach when delivering care and support to meet their needs. We are looking for people with the right values who want to learn how to implement this approach, any experience in working in the field of PBS is a bonus.

Our team support our customers who have complex presentations, which may include, learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism and communication differences, alongside ongoing physical health conditions. They may also have a forensic background and potential to display behaviours of concern.

With the help of our Occupational Therapist and yourself, you’ll find innovative ways to encourage our customers to participate in daily living activities aimed at increasing their independence.

There is lots for you to do and get involved in, from supporting our customers to achieve their hopes and aspirations, working to bespoke care plans. You’ll go home each day knowing that you’ve made an amazing difference to vulnerable people’s lives. How amazing is that?

Be yourself at Home

Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!

About you

As a Support Worker, you’re a real people person! You thrive both on working with a range of vulnerable customers, who all have different support needs, as well as working with colleagues across different services.

One day you might be helping our customer manage their finance or household tasks, the next you might be off to the seaside for fish and chips! Rest assured that wherever you will be working, we’ll support you all the way. Some of our customers also have more complex needs which may include support with personal care.

You’ll be flexible to work at short notice, as you’ll be the one picking your next shift. The great news is that you’ll be gaining loads of experience working in different services or locations, as part of our bank.

Although you’ll have the heart of a Lion, you’ll sometimes need the skin of a Rhino, however, this won’t take away from the caring nature you display towards our customers.

It’s important that you have worked in a similar job in a supported housing environment before, are willing to provide personal care and have experience of helping customers to reach their full potential.

You’ll have a great understanding of professional boundaries, risk assessments and supporting your customers to enjoy the best possible quality of life.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of helping people that display behaviours of concern and hold a Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care. It would be great if you have some previous experience of positive behaviour support, but it’s not a deal breaker.

When you join as a Support Worker, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.

You’ll work alongside our fabulous team of PBS Support Workers, PBS Team Leaders and Clinical colleagues who are super passionate about supporting our customers to reach their goals and celebrate their achievements.
