The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess, and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure, as well as execute, innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.

DEPARTMENT PROFILE

The FID Secured Lending group is seeking a highly talented and motivated desk strategist to join our fast-growing lending business at Associate/VP levels. The role will involve working alongside colleagues to build pricing models, analyze market trends, facilitate risk management, develop advanced analytical tools to improve business efficiency, help the desk strategize deal making and hedging, support the desk’s day-to-day businesses.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong technical and analytical skills. Solid modeling skills are must-have. Working knowledge of fixed income products is desired, practical experience in securitized products a plus. The candidate will also be an excellent programmer who aspires to become full-stack if not already, able to adapt to our diverse technology stack as well as the fast changing market in which we operate.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
  • Strong quantitative skills with solid background in statistics/machine learning
  • Proficiency in at least one programing language (Python preferred)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail
  • Self-driver and team-player

SKILLS DESIRED

  • Recent experience as a desk strategist/quant/developer
  • Experience & knowledge in fixed income products
  • Working knowledge in KDB
  • Experience with UI development
  • Experience with Unix-like operating systems and Shell scripting
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for an Associate, and between $200,000 and $250,000 per year for a Vice President, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
