Job description
The Financial Services Analyst is a critical member of a newly consolidated financial team responsible for the day-to-day financial activities of the School, four academic departments and one organized research unit. Reporting to the fiscal transactions team supervisor, the Financial Services Analyst is responsible for ledger management including deficit monitoring and monthly payroll ledger review and corrections; chart of accounts maintenance; departmental assessments; review of monthly recharges and distribution of sharedcosts; and report preparation and distribution.
The position also independently manages student aid accounting including the submission of student scholarship awards and the preparation of quarterly awards forecast reports.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and a minimum of 1 year of related experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
