About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. It is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 20% annually and currently serves more than 2,000 students with 31 full-time faculty members, 22 full-time staff, and 30 part-time faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, the Justice, Law, and Information Technology Institute, and the Civic Technology Center.

Job Overview

The School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Financial Administrator 1. We are looking for a mission driven, team oriented, highly ambitious individual who wants to serve, make a difference, and strives to perform at competitive levels of excellence.


The principal workload assignment of this position will be to provide financial and human resources support for the School of Information Technology. This entails a wide variety of work including financial reporting, purchasing duties, performing account reconciliations, timekeeping, hiring student workers and graduate assistants, and processing contracts and payments for student workers, graduate assistants, consultants, contractors, and faculty. This position will need to have an understanding of university policies and collaborate with the School on adhering to policies while supporting programmatic and financial growth.


The Financial Administrator will also serve as the primary hiring coordinator for the School. This role includes, but is not limited to, submitting PCRs to create or refill positions, completing job requisitions in the talent management system (Success Factors), setting up job advertisements, serving as the liaison between the search committee and the College Business Office and Central HR Recruiter, moving and dispositioning candidates in Success Factors, completing offer approval requests & offer letters, initiating background checks and initiating new employee onboarding. The hiring coordinator role also includes serving as the liaison between the School and UC International and assisting with the visa and permanent residency process for any international hires.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and monitor administrative duties.
  • Assist in the development of unit policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the financial status of unit programs and other budget allocations.
  • Implement policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare reports.
  • May coordinate personnel functions for an operating unit at less than 25% of duties.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in accounting or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Related finance or accounting experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Accounting or finance-related degree at the bachelor or master’s levels
  • Understanding of the administrative functions, academic programs, and requirements of a university
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Proficient in University of Cincinnati software such as SAP reporting, R/3 and BW; Catalyst; Concur; Success Factors

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
