Purpose of the Position:

Senior Financial Analyst will support the analysis, planning and decision support for Corning’s Research and Development stakeholders. This individual will assist in driving process improvement, continuously focused on improving reporting processes and analytics to provide increased business insight. This role ensures all information and analysis generated is timely and accurately represented. It requires collaboration with the finance organization and the Technology Community.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs in-depth analysis and articulates findings to senior management
  • Responsible for supporting the reporting and analytical processes required to facilitate the clear financial articulation of operational results and projections to both senior management and senior financial leadership.
  • Assist in the preparation of the presentation decks for various forums.
  • Provides ad-hoc financial analysis and project support.
  • Assist in driving Process Excellence in FP&A processes, including the monthly close, monthly control forecast, Green Book, and Black Book processes.
  • Performs budget and forecast input for Green Book and Black Book.
  • Lead spending review process for assigned business customers.
  • Provides Quarterly required Corporate reporting such as SEC, Tax and Lease….
  • Optimally leverages the use of Corning’s financial applications (i.e. Khalix, PeopleSoft, SAP, MSDW) to deliver financial reporting and analytical deliverables.
  • Fully engage in all aspects of and execute on all FP&A deliverables for the SAP BPC implementation. Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SAP for FP&A processes.

Function/Technical:

  • Financial Analytical Skills
    • Strong analytical, financial and mathematical skills.
    • Experience modeling and performing predictive analytics to review complex financial and operational analysis and scenarios
  • Financial Systems
    • Has working knowledge of financial systems used (i.e., PS, Khalix, SAP).
    • Has necessary level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Project. Uses these tools to work more efficiently and reduce time.
    • Ability to perform PeopleSoft and SAP queries in order to troubleshoot period closing inquiries.
  • Technical Competence
    • Has a working knowledge of general accounting including business financial statements (sales through NPAT plus statistical accounts and Cash Flow) and technical knowledge of local accounting and regulatory policies.
  • Financial Processes
    • Able to coordinate closing processes or segments of the process and reporting of results to business to ensure accurate and timely results.

Experiences/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience
