About SOM Tech
SOM Tech provides leadership and advocacy across the UCSF School of Medicine’s technology spectrum, from research to program incubation to data security.
Fellows will develop an understanding of the breadth of the work in the School of Medicine and explore the complex and unique environment of an academic health system.
We are located in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, near UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, at 654 Minnesota Street.

About the Role
We will provide on-the-job training for established career paths with demonstrated needs at UCSF.
  • IT Support Analyst - You’ll work with an IT System Administrator to support a variety of technology tasks and systems including Salesforce, operating systems, and web browser environments. You’ll gain direct experience with JavaScript, resolving support tickets, providing user provisioning, and writing automation scripts to increase workflow efficiencies. Finally, you will work as a contributing team member on one or more agile/SCRUM software development projects.
About the Fellowships
  • Fellows will be expected to contribute work to ongoing projects as an integral member of our team.
  • Fellows will report to a manager who will guide their work, provide feedback and educational opportunities, and support networking within the School of Medicine and across UCSF.
  • Each full-time fellowship lasts six months and pays $21.67/hour.
  • Fellows will follow the SOM Tech work schedule, currently three days a week onsite and two days remote.
  • External training or certificate programs may be made available, if applicable and funding permits.
  • Each fellow will leave with a portfolio of deliverables and professional experience to prepare them to apply and interview for positions in their field.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
