Job description

Summary:

• Responsible for feeding cartons and packing cartons by hand packing.
• Support plant initiatives and directives.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S to standards set by management.
• Support the purpose of the team by participating in initiatives and activities, and attending all meetings scheduled during shift.
• Additional duties as assigned by department manager.

Safety:

• Required – PPE must be worn while on your job. At a minimum safety glasses, steel or composite toe shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
• Required – All safety policies and guidelines must be followed.
• Required – “Let’s talk safety” We use this phrase as a safety intervention and our employees want you to look out after your fellow employees so that they do not get hurt on the job.
• Compliance with all workplace rules, policies and procedures, i.e. SQF, safety, etc.
• Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, ear plugs, steel or composite toe shoes, hair nets, beard nets, cut resistant gloves as needed
• Testing and Measuring Ability (General Math): Ability to use and read basic measurement devices, (calculator, tape measure, and ruler.) Learn to operate testing devices Lift truck (fork-lift) certification and pallet jack operation. General mechanical aptitude. Pass Farnsworth Munsel-100 Hue Test.
• Written/Verbal Communications Skills: Must follow detailed instructions for training and quality.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of Cartons: Perform quality checks on cartons being processed.

Expectations/Guidelines:

• Check job specifications to materials in use.
• Place cartons on belt maintaining proper stack height, carton direction, and ensure stack is straight
• Change pallets and/or loads
• Determine packing specifications
• Pack cartons by hand
• Perform quality audits during production and packs finished cartons into corrugated cases

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $15.50 per hour

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Marion, NC 28752: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
• Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
• Forklift: 1 year (Preferred)
• Picking & packing: 1 year (Preferred)
