POSITION OVERVIEW

Oxbow’s Farm Stand strives to be a vibrant hub for discovery, engagement, and learning. If you love helping people learn about local food and connecting to nature – this might be the perfect job for you! The Farm Stand Coordinator will help our Farm Stand, Farmers Markets and workshops run smoothly throughout the year. Work will be split between staffing, planning, outreach, and set up of our various workshops, Farmers Markets and our Farm Stand – all while being an ambassador for Oxbow. We are looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude, as well as someone who enjoys interacting with customers and shares our passion for food, farming, and the environment.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Farm Stand Planning, Operations & Sales - 50%

  • Perform direct sales of produce, native plants and partner products to customers, with a focus on cultivating positive customer relationships.
  • Support set up (including loading and unloading truck) and running of Farm Stand on weekdays and weekends as needed.
  • Operate Square (our point-of-sales (POS) system) and make sure software and hardware are updated and working.
  • Coordinate with Oxbow programs, as needed, around Farm Stand sales and workshops.
  • Pick up local orders of partner product from nearby farms, weekly.
  • Update Farm Stand inventory and Native Plant inventory, weekly.
  • Ensure Farm Stand is clean and organized to welcome visitors.
  • Support Farm Stand Manger in training and supporting Farm Stand and Farmers Market Staff.

Farm Stand Programming - 40%

  • Function as Oxbow ambassador on site: welcome all visitors with site, mission, and program information.
  • Set up workshops, demos, and other visitor program spaces (tents, chairs, demo stations).
  • Welcome guests to workshops, demos and other programs and promote upcoming activities and Oxbow email sign up.
  • Encourage participants to provide post-program feedback via survey tools.
  • Ensure marketing materials (e.g., fliers, posters) are displayed at the Farm Stand and offered to visitors.
  • Support Farm Stand Manager in yearly planning of Farm Stand programs.


Farmers Markets – 10%

  • Ensure Oxbow brand, products and programs are represented at Farmers Markets.
  • Support set up (including loading and unloading truck) and running of weekend Farmers Markets, as needed.

General

  • Provide coverage for Farm Stand and Farmers Market shifts, on occasion.
  • Represent Oxbow in a positive, professional manner, engaging with and educating visitors about Oxbow’s mission and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 – 2 years of retail sales experience and/or farmers stand/market sales
  • 1 – 2 years of customer service experience and welcome center activities for a site-based organization a plus
  • Able to lift heavy & awkward objects, up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience using sales POS platforms and Excel software
  • Clear, professional written communications
  • Excellent verbal communications
  • Flexible, creative, and able to perform well in diverse conditions and under pressure
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) and social media such as Instagram and Facebook
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Availability for a Wednesday – Sunday or Tuesday -Saturday work week
  • WA state drivers license
  • Ability/ willingness to learn to drive manual transmissions (desired)
  • Environmentally conscious, background/interest in organic farming, cooking (desired)

COMPENSATION

This is a regular, full-time position, with benefits that include 100% employer paid life insurance, healthcare, dental, and vision plans. Benefits also include competitive PTO and sick leave that starts accruing immediately. Additional benefit information is available upon request. The pay rate for this role is $23/hr.
