The post holder will be working as part of a new Barnardo's ‘Stronger Together' team, working in partnership with Brent Family Wellbeing Centres to provide out-reach support to local families.

Stronger Together team consists of early years workers and family support assistants and provides early help and support to children aged 0-18 years and their families.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Family Support Assistant (FSA), to provide family mentoring work as part of this new team, together with the wider Brent Family Well-Being Centre teams. The over-arching aim is to engage with young children and their families on a one-to-one or group basis, using a variety of interventions both in the home, community and/or at the centres, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes. The FSA will assist the work of Brent family support workers, providing a mentoring role to families to make good progress that will affect great outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children and families living in difficult and sometimes, complex situations.

Initial specific duties:

  • To offer a range of services via home visits, groups or signposting to support families identified by the Family Wellbeing Hub.
  • Provide preventative and early intervention services to families with children 0-18yrs that are experiencing challenging situations/ circumstances
  • To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of Barnardo's Stronger Families theme, strategically aligned to the Brent Family Well-Being Centres.
