FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

Facility maintenance technicians are responsible for general maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities to include plumbing, heating and cooling, keeping the building and grounds clean, safe, and functional.

Part-time – 28 hours per week

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provides general and detailed maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), including patching, painting, hardware repairs and other repair/replacement work as required.
  • Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Conducting minor repairs to equipment or facilities such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, or painting
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and ordering supplies as needed
  • Performs routine daily inspections of commercial building and spaces.
  • General and detailed cleaning of all interior and exterior spaces.
  • Specific functions include, but are not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, washing, polishing, and dusting floors, carpet, walls, windows, light fixtures, and doors; trash and recycling removal; cleaning restrooms; stairwells, offices and other areas as required.
  • Performing basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, or repairing small leaks in drains or toilets
  • Ability to troubleshoot/operate HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, related controls, motors, etc.
  • Completes all documentation for work performed, in a timely manner.
  • Oversees and performs the duties associated with events, including executing the set--- up plan in a timely manner, break---downs are completed on schedule with spaces returned to normal state.
  • Ability to use technology such as smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to emergency call---ins (on scheduled days) during storms or natural disasters that
  • require grounds to be cleared of debris, snow or ice.
  • Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees.
  • Helps to maintain adequate custodial supply stocks.
  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
  • Serves in the rotation of weekend on---call personnel.
  • Incumbent is designated as an essential staff member and required to work during periods of extreme weather and in other emergency situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of verifiable experience (three or more highly desirable) maintaining various building interior and exterior surfaces, including painted walls, baseboards, tiled and carpeted floor surfaces.
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric powered tools.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to receive and respond to work.
  • Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
  • Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Demonstrate time management skills and including multi- tasking.
  • Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment.
  • Works independently with limited supervision, interacting effectively with and quickly gaining the respect and support of facilities and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment

(pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices

  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
  • Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
