POSITION PURPOSE:
The Event Security staff is responsible for ensuring the safety of visitors to the XL Center and Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field, as well as the security of restricted areas and the facilities in general.
Pay Rate: $16.00 - $16.25/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Arrives for shift on time, neatly groomed and in a clean, pressed, well-maintained uniform.
- Screens guests as they enter the facility in accordance with the established standards.
- Verifies credentials to ensure control of access into restricted areas.
- Responds immediately and professionally to guest disturbances/incidents.
- Secures the perimeter of ticketed areas.
- Accurately and thoroughly completes all pertinent reports and documentation.
- Effectively diffuse potentially volatile situations.
- Works cooperatively with Guest Services staff and Local and State Police.
- Interacts with guests in a polite and professional manner.
- Answers guest questions in a knowledgeable and helpful manner.
- Consistently enforces facility policies & procedures related to prohibited items, disruptive behavior, etc.
- Performs other duties as required to the satisfaction of Supervisors and Management.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
- Valid CT Guard Card, required.
- Prior Customer Service Experience, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills required, with thorough understanding of written and spoken English.
- Knowledge and skill in radio communication.
- Ability to listen effectively, take and execute directions, as given.
- Ability to work at the arena in Hartford, CT and the stadium in East Hartford, CT.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement to diffuse volatile situations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to traverse a variety of terrain and floor surfaces including stairs, escalators, carpet, concrete.
- Ability to work in heights, in darkened area, around crowds, loud noises and flashing lights.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in fast-paced environment and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, as needed.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
