EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR

Who are we:

The Bergen County Soil Conservation District is a special purpose subdivision of the State of New Jersey tasked with the implementation and enforcement of the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Act, Chapter 251, P.L. 1975. Through this State Law, soil erosion and sedimentation as a result of construction activity is substantially minimized.

Duties:

Performs on-site inspections of construction sites in Bergen County to ensure that soil erosion and sediment control measures are installed and maintained in compliance with a certified soil erosion and sediment control plan.

Hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Writes inspection reports, maintains project files and office records.

Communicates deficiencies with project owners, construction supervisors and engineers. Coordinates with municipal, county and state agencies.

Requirements:

Ability to operate a motor vehicle, valid driver’s license and good driving record. Reliable private vehicle to travel to and from construction sites.

Ability to walk on uneven, unpaved, surfaces including construction sites and undeveloped terrane for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.

Strong communication, organizational, and record keeping skills. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in word and excel.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited college with a bachelor degree in environmental science, agriculture, forestry, geology, or related areas of study.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary $40,000.00. Medical, dental and life insurance. State pension plan, paid holidays, personal and sick days. Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle.
