HSBC GR is an independent research house with a strong focus on Emerging Markets (EMs). We have 350 analysts covering 1,900+ companies, 60+ economies, 45+ sovereigns’ rates and 50+ currencies globally. Our analysts, based out of 22 countries, are spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

With a particular focus on EMs, UK, as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, we provide regular comment and analysis on topics including economics, currencies, fixed income and equities. Role Overview (US Financials)

As a member of the Global Research team this role is part of our growth plan to extend our thought leadership across 9 key themes and provide US coverage to help all parts of the bank. The incumbent will be responsible for analysing and interpreting economic developments and key trends in equity markets, and providing timely views for internal/external clients

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join this team working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. In this role, you will:

  • Overlay analytical skills at the stock level with a full understanding of the dynamics at play within the company/sector/region
  • Maintain a consistent flow of high quality actionable/commercial research product
  • Interact with company managements and investors
  • Adhere to the Equity Analyst Scorecard Metrics
  • Actively ramp up and eventually engage with clients through meetings/calls and to advise clients whether to buy/sell or hold the underlying equity
  • Work closely with Senior/Junior Analyst, Research Marketing, equity sales, sales trading, trading (market makers), to ensure dissemination of information and coordinated flow of information to clients.
  • Proactively improve service to clients with regular calls, meetings and service requests.
  • Proactively contribute to vote collection to get your team and the HSBC research department ranked in targeted external surveys
  • Provide investor access for our clients
  • Work on global products, when required
  • Respond quickly, efficiently and accurately to ad-hoc requests
  • Recruit, train and retain your teams including your associates in off-shore locations
  • Develop our inclusive culture and practices in order to mitigate the effects of unconscious bias in our decision making
  • Active stakeholder management

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $250,000 and $300,000.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

  • Post Graduate Finance / MBA or equivalent from a reputed university
  • Minimum 15 years in a related field within Financial Services
  • Understanding of financial markets and various asset classes is a must
  • Active stakeholder management experience is a must
  • Excellent in spoken and written English
  • Strong financial modeling and company/sector valuation metrics
  • Strong knowledge in finance
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Working experience in equity research department or similar areas
  • Strong skills in handling analytics programs (e.g. Bloomberg, Quantiwise, Datastream, etc.)
  • Must be detail-oriented to handle various data and to minimize errors
  • Great team player and having ability to perform multi tasks
  • Organized; diligent; ability to put extra efforts when required
