BWXT is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist for its Lynchburg, VA location!

Job Description/Duties:

• Evaluates the facility operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and site permits.
• Prepares and submits regulatory reports.
• Updates and maintains environmental plans, permits, and procedures.
• Evaluates changes to facility operations in order to ensure that environmental compliance is maintained.
• Performs inspections to evaluate and support the facility’s environmental compliance initiatives.
• Supports facility wastewater treatment and waste management and recycling systems, including assessments of engineered systems and troubleshooting and facilitation of changes as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred), Environmental Science, or related subject matter is required.
• A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience (consisting mostly of environmental engineering and/or compliance) is required.
• Must have demonstrable knowledge of Federal and Commonwealth of Virginia regulatory requirements as they pertain to air, water, and solid waste management.
• Must possess ability to pass an EPA Method 9 certification for visible opacity reading.
• Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Previous experience with air permitting is desired.
• Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
