MSA has an opportunity for an Environmental S cientist in the Baraboo office location. You will have the opportunity to plan, and contribute in, a variety of environmental projects in both Minnesota and Wisconsin from start to finish. Responsibilities:
The work you will do
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and performing field activities including collecting soil and groundwater samples for environmental analysis
  • Oversee field activities including Underground Storage Tank removals, direct push soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation and other field activities
  • Conduct groundwater sampling activities according to State Regulatory Agency guidance using peristaltic pumps, submersible pumps and bailers
  • Conduct soil gas, sub-slab and indoor air sampling according to State Regulatory Agency guidance
  • Document field activities using field notes, sampling logs and photographs
  • Conduct potable well sampling according to State Regulatory Agency guidance
  • Complete boring logs
  • Enter laboratory analytical data into tables and prepare draft figures and photographic logs using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power point and other programs
  • Conduct initial site visits to determine if Underground Storage Tanks are present
  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessment site visits
Qualifications:
What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:
  • Associate’s college degree in geology, hydrogeology, physical science with an emphasis in environmental
    engineering or a related degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of previous environmental work experience required
  • OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HazWopper) Training is preferred.
  • Hazardous materials certification(s) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of State Regulatory Agency guidance is a plus
  • Valid Driver’s license and the ability to travel with some overnight stays required
  • Previous experience with petroleum and chlorinated solvent sites a plus
  • We are seeking someone with solid written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, who exhibits exceptional follow through, and a willingness to be flexible for our client’s requirements
  • We are seeking an individual with a multi-disciplinary background who enjoys work on a variety of job tasks and can use their background of skill sets to provide assistance to our various lines of environmental services
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position.
